Top 6 things to look out for and to check when hiring bouncy castles?
1. Check that the company has pubic liability insurance.
We have 5 million which available to download when required.
2. Ensure that all inflatables hired are fully tested in line with the HSE.
This is a legal requirement and all of our equipment is tested in line with the HSE by either using Rpii or Pipa trained inspector.
The standard is EN14960-2019, Testing report available on request.
3. Check that all electrics are suitable and fully PAT tested.
Yes all of our Electrical cables are PAT tested and correct outdoor and indoor cables are supplied with all our equipment. If another company turns up and uses a standard extension lead where they plug a standard 3 pin plug into outside you need to ask if it is water or splash proof otherwise it would not be suitable or safe for hired equipment and user.
(All of our sockets are IP64 which means they are water proof. All of our cables have adapters to go inside your house)
Pat testing reports available on request.
4. Checking out for the Cowboys!
There is a saying that is well known "if it’s cheap then it’s cheap for a reason!!"
These are the things you need to look out for and never be afraid to ask.
One of the best ways to tell a reputable company is by their reviews,
- Do they have a landline?
- Do they have a website? Nearly all reputable companies will have a site.
- Business address? Why would you not give this out, how would you trace them if something went wrong!
- Is the equipment tested by Rpii or Pipa inspector? (ask to see the report)
If they have none of the above you need to ask your self can I trust them with my event.
5. During set up the Perfect surface for all outdoor inflatables is grass where pegs can be hammered in to the ground.
If securing your inflatable on to grass then pegs that measure 360mm and 16mm wide must be used.
Indoor events do not require pegging however they do need to be sand bagged so they do not move.
Outside on hard surface is not recommended but can be done by using the correct securing weight of 163kg per anchor point, minimum anchor points on a bouncy castle is 6 so you would need 978kg nearly 1 TON! (Please note a few sandbags around the castle is not safe practice and very dangerous!) The safe method that we use is to drill 8mm bolts in to and only solid concrete or tarmac surface. This can not be booked online and must be discuss first.
