06 December 2018 - Testing for all inflatables

In case you weren't aware the Heath and Safety Executive are now ruling that all inflatables that will be used by members of the public need to have been tested by a competent person - this meaning someone who is a registered RPii or Pipa tester. A valid test certificate is also required annually before the inflatables are hired and used.
Is this something that worries you as a hirer? Not sure what test you need, or how do get your bouncy castles tested for the new season? We can help you with this at Bounceroos Testing services.
Our RPii trained inspector can either attend your premise and test your inflatables for you or you can bring your bouncy castles to us. Either way we can test your inflatables to the required standard and will either advise you of repairs that are required to be carried out and also issue you with a valid test certificate for each unit tested. Along with this the blower will be PAT tested.
The test on your inflatable can either be an in house test by a Rpii inspector or Pipa test.
When you contact us to book your bouncy castle in for its annual test, there are a few things we will need to know. This not only helps us out but will help you to.
- the size of the unit to be tested
- what type of unit is it - bouncy castle, slide, assault course?
- who is it made by
-when was it last tested
-do you have the manufacturers paperwork for each unit
- do you have previous test certificates
- proof of any previous repairs
-we will also wish to see the correct number of ground pegs for the unit
- we will check the blower used for the inflatable and PAT test this to.

Here are a few tips on how you can make sure your inflatable will pass the test!... Its a bit like an MOT for your van!!

- Make sure your unit is dry and clean
- Check your ground pegs/stakes are with the inflatable, they must not have shape splinters!
- Each peg must be the standard of 16 mm thick and 380 mm in length
- Check that your blower is working properly, it must be the correct size for the inflatable
- Also ensure that the lead does not have any wires exposed
- PAT tests are required for all of your electrical's the blower will be PAT tested at the time of testing to.
On the day of testing, you need to have your unit out ready to be tested as this saves on time. Also be able to put your inflatable away - the inspector will not roll your inflatable away for you!
Once your test has been completed , the inspector will advise you if it has passed or failed. If your inflatable hasn't passed the test an inspection report will not be issued to you until all of the recommended repairs have been completed.
Although we do not offer a repair service on site, we can recommend and work closely with two local companies in the Coventry area who will repair your inflatable to the standard required and that will comply with EN14960:2013, the unit will then be ready for a re-test by our inspector.
Once the inflatable has passed the standard test, we can then issue you with a valid test certificate and report.
Bounceroos Testing services do become very busy as the better weather arrives. If you require your inflatables testing before the season starts then please contact us and get your bouncy castles booked in.
